Ok Computer Review- Experimental Perfection

Ok Computer is one of the best albums of all time. The alternative and dream pop experimentation throughout the album culminates to create a near perfect album with basically zero major flaws. The lyrical themes and techniques work perfectly throughout the album combining, with the experimentation to create a classic masterpiece.

The production in Ok Computer is experimental and varied. The range of instruments used and the electronic effects create smooth, distinct and intricately made beats. Each song tone varies depending on the main theme of the track. Paranoid Android has the theme of electronics and the takeover of AI, and uses more of the electronic effects to convey its message. A song like No Surprises focuses on the blandness and simplicity of everyday life and is slowed down, creating a sadder tone. The melancholy tone of the album encapsulates the saddening reality of each topic that is expressed throughout the album. The pacing of the LP is perfect and it is not bloated. Each song is also paced perfectly, rounding off each theme by the end and moving to the next. The versatility in production and the themes expressed through each track add to Ok Computer's replay value. Production values in Ok Computer have no imperfections.

Thom Yorke's lyricism is strangely unique and each verse represents the themes and compliments the production almost perfectly. This does not happen often, but there are some times that the electronic voice effects don't mesh perfectly with the production and it sounds wrong. This only happens a few times and is so minor that it is not too noticeable. The lyrics themselves have an abundant amount of meaning, which adds many layers of depth to each song. Yorke's storytelling is filed with many english techniques that most lyricists don't use when telling a story. The authenticity in story telling creates varied stories, that can be emotional and thought provoking. The variety of Yorke focuses on is nearly unmatched and the themes, of AI, death, the state of Britain and other themes are well incorporated. The delivery of each line show emotion from Yorke. These lines show anger, sorrow, regretfulness, cynical thoughts and more. This delivery perfectly portrays these emotions through the theme of a song. Lyrical elements are basically perfected throughout this album.

Radiohead's Ok Computer an experimentation of the alternative rock and dream pop genres and creates some of the most unique sounds in any album. The lyricism is the pinnacle of both the rock and pop genres and does what not many other bands set out to achieve. Ok Computer is a masterpiece and classic.
