Ready To Die Review- Biggie's Classic Debut



Ready To Die is a masterpiece and rap album classic. The albums production is perfectly crafted and Biggie's lyricism is some of the best in hip-hop history. Ready to Die is not jst one of the best rap albums, but one of the best albums ever made.

Production in Ready to Die perfectly encapsulates the mood of the LP. Most of the production is brooding, cynical and ominous with hints of happiness and joyfulness. This production compliments Biggie's lyricism as he conveys the same emotions through his lyrics. There aren't any features, but this benefits the album as it feels like Biggie is telling his story and no one else needs to help him tell it. The darkest and some of the overall best production comes from Easy Mo Bee who is definitely not credited enough with this LP and creates beats that capture the overall mood in the best ways possible. The album has fantastic pacing and is well balanced in terms of the themes of each track. There is a great amount of replay value in terms of production as well as lyricism. Overall, Ready to Die is one of the best produced rap albums and there is not a noticeable flaw.

Biggie's lyricism in Ready to Die is fantastic as it perfectly conveys his feelings regarding the topics he raps about. Depending on the song the lyrics might change from vivid imagery, to evoking his thoughts to, life stories and even club songs. The versatility of topics Biggie focuses on are in regard to the factors above and are all varied, adding an extra sense of lyrical replay value. Biggie's flow is some of the best in hip-hop history and is consistently good on every track, especially Juicy and Big Poppa. His delivery is diverse and ranges from relaxed to paranoid, and there are also many more emotions evoked. The techniques Biggie uses differ on every song creating another reason why Ready to Die is a great listen. Overall, Biggie's presence and rhymes are only matched by a few other rap albums.

Ready To Die is both a classic rap album and a masterpiece. The only small flaws are the boring interludes and very few, but short beat choices in a couple tracks. Biggie's lyricism is basically perfect and his flow is masterful. Notorious B.I.G.'s Ready to Die is a classic rap album and is the standard of what has come out and what will come in the future.
