Rumours Review- Production Perfected

There is a reason why Rumours is one of the most sold albums of all time and this is because of it's timeless production. Every song is varied, interesting to listen to and it contains a timeless theme as well. Some of the lyrics have not aged the best due to how much better lyricism has been released since this album.

The production in Rumours is timeless and has aged well. The 70's pop-rock sound of this album is solid, but due to the abundance in instruments used it creates a more interesting experience. Every song is perfectly produced and every layer of sound from each instrument varies on every track creating many diversified tracks. There are many iconic songs on this album such as Dreams, Don't Stop and Go Your Own Way. These are some of the best songs in the LP, but all the other songs are just as well produced and are still all near perfect. The album is faultlessly paced and is not bloated. The story of 2 lovers, one who is moving and the other who is lost in life, is a timeless theme that can be experienced by anyone. The pacing compliments this theme by not staying too long, but being there for enough time to have an impact. There is tons of replay value due to the story of love and the pacing. Production values on Rumours are perfect and some of the best in music history.

Fleetwood Mac has an interesting take on storytelling throughout Rumours. Yes the story is about two lovers who separate, but the stories it tells through its tracks are both self contained and continuous throughout the LP. Not many albums have a running story and this quite a different and interesting take on storytelling in an album. The delivery by both the Jon McVie and Stevie Nicks are contrasting as they represent both lovers. Their delivery is of pain, love, regret and hope, causing the album to be emotional. There is not much of a range of topics that the album focuses on, but this is compensated for by how unique the storytelling is. The lyrics themselves range from excellent to alright. The majority of lyrics are fantastic, but there are a few lines which are generic and slightly boring. The hooks are also pretty good, but because of how overused some of these hooks are in modern media, it gets irritating at points. Otherwise, Rumours has fantastic lyrical elements.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is a fantastically influential pop-rock album that will be timeless for generations to come. The production throughout the album is perfect and most lyrical elements are as well, other than some of the boring lines scattered in the album. Rumours is a masterful classic and of the best albums in the music industry.
