The Dark Knight Review- The Hero that Films Deserve
Batman: The Dark Knight is the best superhero film ever made. Christopher Nolan's directing skill and the performances in this movie create a dark, gritty crime thriller that is not filled with CGI like every superhero blockbuster that has come out in the late 2010's and early 2020's.
The Dark Knight picks up a few years after Batman Begins. The basis of the story is Joker and Batman fight and Batman has to beat him to stop his chaotic and psychological games. Christian Bale's performance as Batman is perfect and Heath Ledger portrayal of the Joker is more than just perfect. The performance Heath Ledger brings to his role is insanely good. The overall plot is very good and the way the characters are portrayed are all fantastic. The only plot point I had an issue with was Harvey Dent's on screen time, as I feel his Two-Face performance was not fleshed out enough. The action towards the end of the movie also did not combine well with overall great pacing. The plot and characters in The Dark Knight felt like their comic book counterparts and it was all perfected by the actors.
The symbolism and quotes that Nolan has at the beginning of the film foreshadow its ending in many ways and this was a good way to build anticipation. Most of the action scenes were also well directed and costume, as well as set design were also great. Other than an action scene that bloated some of the ending, there were some other factors that bloated the ending. It felt like it just took too long for Batman to do menial tasks. The lack of CGI is also great and the more practical stunts are much better in a superhero film like this. There are many other factors that make this the best superhero movie.
Overall, other than a few flaws I found in The Dark Knight, I believe it to be the best superhero films ever made. There are many factors, which I mentioned in my review above and these factors cause it to be one of the greats.
