Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 (Remake) Review- The Return of a Legend

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is the best remake of any sports game. It improves the original levels in perfect ways and adds on to the original formula of pro skater in most ways. It also adds new features and an abundant amount of replay value.

Missions in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 are similar to the originals, but have added challenges and scores that are appropriate for this game's score system. These missions and objectives are challenging, cohesive and well designed. These objectives are varied and challenge how good a player is and it can help a player improve. There are also upgrade points you can reach and it is a solid progression system, as when you get all upgrade points all a skaters stats are at max. Level design is the same as the originals, but due to the updated skating systems it creates an even more cohesive experience. Every level is perfectly designed for skating and getting high combos. The variety in levels creates a level of perfectionism from a player, as every level has different features players can use to their advantage. The visuals are perfectly updated and the levels are distinct from each other. The soundtrack take basically all the songs from the original games and adds modern songs which create a fantastic vibe. This also applies to the skaters as the original skaters return and new, upcoming skaters join the roster, and its good to see how many professional skaters are getting represented. There is also solid customisation of skateboards, clothes and there is also character customisation to create an image of yourself in the game. There is not as much variety as Tony Hawk's Underground, but it is still alright. There are many extra features such as split-screen, co-op, multiplayer modes, free skate, time sessions, create-a-parks and more. Replaying levels can get repetitive at times and some challenges are tedious if players are just being introduced to the series. Players can spend in the multitude of modes and it adds to its replay value.

Everything from the more recent Pro Skater games was added to this remake. There are of course the basics such as jumping, flip tricks, grab tricks, grinding and lip tricks. Manuals are here and they are as satisfying as ever. There are also acid drops, reverts, customisable special tricks and way more. The skill ceiling is high and combining tricks is difficult if new to the series. Once players have gotten the hang of Pro Skater, combos is as satisfying as ever, combining combos can be difficult but it is fun perfecting skills. Once I reached scores and combos in the millions I felt satisfied with my skill, but still wanted to continue playing.

Other than repetitive elements and being slightly uninspired, as most levels are designed exactly the same as original, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is one of the best remakes. After so many disappointing Pro Skater games, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 has so many elements of skating that it does perfectly and is easily the best sports game remake. This was the perfect return to the Pro Skater formula.
